Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about SENScribe and creating Student Support Plans.
About SENScribe
What is SENScribe?
SENScribe is a writing tool for Irish teachers that turns your everyday classroom notes into structured Student Support Plans. You type what you've observed in plain language, and SENScribe rewrites it using the kind of professional phrasing the Department expects - in English or Irish.
How is this different from just using ChatGPT?
ChatGPT doesn't know the Irish system. SENScribe is built around the Continuum of Support, uses Department-aligned language, and formats everything so it's ready to paste into Aladdin or VSware. It also protects student names automatically - something you'd have to do manually with ChatGPT.
Is this the same as an IEP writer?
Similar idea, but built for Ireland. In the UK and US they use IEPs (Individual Education Plans). Here we use Student Support Plans under the Continuum of Support. SENScribe follows the Irish framework, not the UK or US one.
The Continuum of Support
What is the Continuum of Support?
It's the Department of Education's framework for supporting students with additional needs. There are three levels: Classroom Support (everyday strategies by the class teacher), School Support (more structured help, often with the SET), and School Support Plus (for complex needs, usually involving outside professionals like NEPS).
How does SENScribe match the three levels?
When you pick a level, SENScribe adjusts the tone and language. For Classroom Support, you'll see phrases like 'may benefit from' and 'differentiated approaches'. For School Support Plus, it uses stronger language like 'requires individualised support' and 'specialist intervention'. It matches what inspectors and NEPS expect to see.
Does it cover all the sections of a Student Support Plan?
Yes - Pupil Strengths, Priority Learning Needs, Targets, and Strategies. These are the four sections you need. SENScribe fills them all using the observations you provide.
Data Privacy & Security
Does SENScribe store student data?
Your saved files are encrypted on your own device before they ever reach our servers - so even we can't read them. For the AI writing part, student names are automatically swapped out for placeholders (like [PERSON_1]) in your browser. The AI never sees who the student is.
Where is everything stored?
All data is stored in Ireland. The AI processing also happens within the EU. Nothing leaves Europe.
Is it GDPR compliant?
Yes. All saved student data is encrypted so only you can read it. Student names are removed before anything is sent to the AI. We have a Privacy Whitepaper that explains it all in plain English - handy if your Principal or DPO wants the details.
Can I use it on my school network?
Yes. SENScribe works in any browser - Chrome, Safari, Edge. There's nothing to install. Share the Privacy Whitepaper with your Principal or IT coordinator if they need to approve it first.
Using SENScribe
How do I use it?
Type your notes about a student the way you'd tell a colleague - 'struggles with reading, gets upset easily, good at maths'. Pick the support level, click generate, and you'll get a full draft plan in about 30 seconds. Review it, tweak anything you want, and copy it into your system.
Can I paste it straight into Aladdin or VSware?
Yes. The output is plain text that copies cleanly into Aladdin, VSware, or whatever system your school uses. No weird formatting or character limit issues.
Do I still need to check what it writes?
Always. SENScribe gives you a strong first draft, but you know the student. Read through it, adjust anything that doesn't feel right, and make it your own before it goes into the file.
How many plans can I create?
The free trial gives you 14 days of unlimited plans. After that, the Teacher plan (€99/year) keeps it unlimited. Email hello@senscribe.ie if you want a school licence.
Access & Pricing
How do I get started?
Join the waitlist on the homepage. We'll email you when your spot is ready. Once you're in, you get 14 days free with unlimited plans - no card needed.
How much does it cost?
14-day free trial, then €99/year for individual teachers. School plans start at €299/year for multiple teachers. No card needed to start your trial.
Is there a school-wide licence?
Yes. We can set up a licence for your whole staff and invoice the school directly. Email hello@senscribe.ie and we'll sort it out.
Can I pay for it myself or does the school have to?
Either way works. Lots of teachers pay for the €99 plan themselves - it may be tax-deductible as a professional expense. Or your school can buy a School plan and we'll invoice them directly.
